The Energy Insurance Survey
Among the services provided by Abercromby Risk the staple is the Energy Risk Engineering Insurance Survey (also known as the 'underwriting survey). Virtual or in-person, including in remote, offshore or high risk areas, Abercromby Risk can gather the evidence to bind risks with confidence and ensure cover is appropriate. We report on all site attributes with bearing on the risk, including but not limited to Estimated Maximum Loss (PD, MB, OEE, BI/LOPI), physical details, processes, technology use, control and safety systems, systems of work, integrity management, natural perils and much more. Our expertise across the insurance and the process industries allow us to identify and close the largest gaps in process safety performance through targeted and value-adding Risk Improvement Recommendations.

Will Chaffin
MEng MSc CEng MIMechE FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland)
Will has extensive engineering and operations experience working for supermajors and independents alike. He has led insurance surveys for nine years and has examined platforms, supercomplexes, FPSOs, onshore producing fields, liquefaction and gassification faciltiies, gas plants, terminals, pipelines and refineries. Facilties and projects surveyed have been operated by BP, Shell, Chevron, Statoil, Repsol, ADNOC, Perenco and various National Oil Companies. He aims to quickly built trust through mutual respect to allow efficent and productive undertaking.
Will has Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering (with distinction) from Strathclyde University; and Process Safety and Loss Prevention (with distinction - student of the year) from Sheffield University.
